Las Coloradas is a touristic icon of the Yucatan Peninsula and Mexico. Is a magical place that is not common in the rest of th world, and basically nowhere else in Mexico.

Las Coloradas is a small fishing town located east of the Yucatan state, in the Rio Lagartos municipality.
The touristic park is a private property and is part of Industria Salinera de Yucatan. Grupo Roche is the #1 sea salt company in Mexico: Sal Sol. Besides being an important source of jobs and income for the inhabitants of the area.
Head east towards Periferico road. From the city centre, the shortest route is Calle 59 until you get to San Camilo bridge. Once on the crossroad of Periferico, take the right lane until you get to Cholul exit by route 176.
Continue on the Merida-Motul road, passing next to Conkal town, keep going until passing the Baca town and get to Motul.
Take again the 176 road on route to Temax and Buctzotz towns, and surround them until you get to Tizimin. Afterwards, take the federal street 295 (Tizimin-Rio Lagartos road).
From there just take the exit to Las Coloradas and follow all the signs.
From Merida centre, head to east Periferico by Quetzalcoatl avenue, until the exit of the Merida-Peto/Merida-Valladolid road (federal road 180), also known as the Cancun-Valladolid highway.
On the first part of the trip you'll pass next to Kanasin town and Hacienda Teya. Afterwards all you need to do is follow all the signs on route to Valladolid, Yucatan, one of the state's Pueblos Magicos (Magical Towns).
From Valladolid, passing Ek Balam, go north on road 295 on route to Tizimin and then to Rio Lagartos until to you reach Las Coloradas.
If you are in Cancun, Quintana Roo, the journey starts by taking federal road 180D Cancun-Kantunil on route to Valladolid, and from there to Tizimin via 295 road.
An alternative is going next to the coast until Playa del Carmen, and from there take 305D road, until you get to the intersection with 180D road, and then head to Valladolid.
The trip time will vary depending on your transportation mode —and traffic—, your own car is the fastest, and going on the bus is the the slowest.
